I cannot believe that I leave for South Africa in less than a week.
This semester has flown by so quickly! I could not be more grateful for such an enjoyable internship. I was placed at a school where my heart already was before I even knew it. The support system that I was surrounded by during my internship has encouraged me in countless ways, and I will forever be thankful. Although I was surrounded with a friendly staff, selfless administration, and the most supportive and helpful partnership teacher in the world, I owe the affirmation of my future career path to a specific group of individuals:
The seventeen unique, special, and beautiful, third-graders who made each early morning alarm worth it.
I could not wait to get to school every day to receive hugs, high fives, or handshakes from my smiling third graders! Teaching them was a pure joy, but each student has taught me more than I can ever say I've taught them. I am so excited to have the opportunity to share my adventure to South Africa with them! Many of my students have asked if I could bring them with me, and thanks to modern technology, I can! I designed this blog primarily to serve as a resource for my third graders to follow me on my journey, and for my sixth graders in South Africa to communicate with my class in Wilmington. Other readers are welcome to follow along as well!
Thank you to all of you who have made this dream possible. I cannot wait to share more!
I'm sure you'll have a great time! My own trip to South Africa in the mid 1990's was one of the best trips of my life. I can't wait to hear more about it.
